Welcome

With the arrival of our latest family addition, Isabelle Rose Kaeslin, on 6 September 2007 and Andreas Edward Kaeslin on 17 August 2009, I decided it was time to join the blogging age in order to better share family photos and stories. So if you have wandered across this site or received the link via an email, I do hope you enjoy what we post. I promise to try and update regularly so keep coming back often.

Now this is walking

I love this thing. Until now we have only wore her facing towards us but
tonight we tried it out the other way around since she can hold her head so
well and she really liked it.Her eyes were wide open as we walked outside.
And the great thing is the cover. Wind and water resistant and even has a
hood. Absolutely perfect for our weather here.

Thanksgiving the Swiss Way

And what does that mean???? It means it is on Sunday. We were invited to our
friend's in Sarnen, the Mchugh family, for Thanksgiving dinner and oh my
goodness was it good!!! Still dreaming about it today and wishing I had
eaten more. However, there was honestly no more room after we finished
eating.

I really like my hand

Well I think she just likes to suck on anything that is within reach. Quite
funny though to see her try to get her whole fist in her mouth. She was even
doing it in her sleep last night.

Pretty Girl

Isn't she pretty? We just think she is gorgeous, however I have to say that
her father is not very fond of the bow in her hair. Says he likes the hats
but the bow is a bit to much for him. I think it is very cute!

Growing so fast

This is my friend Vicky with her daughter Sofi. She is so cute. Always looking at Isabelle and saying baby.

All wrapped up. This is the only way I can even slightly attempt to swaddler her. I have to wait until she is asleep and then wrap a receiving blanket around her to keep her arms in. Works for awhile but once she is starting to wake up, she is out it in a flash.

My beautiful girls!!!

Gosh I just look at her in these pictures and cant believe how much older
she looks. Amazing!! And look at that picture of Davis. She has changed so
much in the year and a half that we have been here.

Isabelle's sad voice

Well earlier in the day she was talking to herself so cutely in the mirror however no camera in hand. Tried it again later on and we just got her sad voice but still so sweet. Kinda sounds like a cat.

Party Time

Sunday night was dinner over at Ueli's brother's house, Martin. His oldest daughter just turned 13y so they had a birthday dinner for her. Just a couple of pictures from the evening.

All packed up and ready to go. Its cold outside.

Isabelle with her big sister and here cousin.

With grandma or grossmutter in german.

And with Ueli's brother Martin who is also Isabelle's godfather.

All partied out!! Time to sleep.

Ok this has nothing to do with the party. This was just a photo from today while I was cooking lunch. She sat quite happily for 45 mins while I made lunch and while we ate.

I survived....

But I dont know about mom. Yes it was imunization day this week. Oh I hate that. Fortunately for me Ueli came with us. I started crying before they even started so he sent me into the hall. I just knew what kind of crying we were going to hear and it broke my heart to even think about it. In the end, I cried in the hall, Isabelle cried in the office and Ueli held us both. Fortunately it was over fast but she wimpered on for a bit afterwards. Calmed her down by letting her nurse there in the office before going. She actually then fell asleep.

The aftermath was good. She handled it very well. No fever and no grumpyness. She was right back to her normal self.

On another note, look at her push herself up off the mattress of her bassinet. She was having a bit of tummy time and pushed herself right up. She was on the way back down by the time Davis and I managed to scramble for the camera but you still get the point.

And then here is just a picture of me and Isabelle. She spends alot of time sleeping like this. We both really love it when she falls asleep on our chest this way. She is just so cuddly and sweet!!!

Fall Fun

For the past several weeks we have really enjoyed the changing colors of the leaves. In some places it has been a true rainbow of color. Really beautiful. Well, now all the leaves are falling from the trees.

On an afternoon walk yesterday with our neighbor, we came across a big pile of leaves. Well the kids just could not resist and after adding to the pile, they took turns jumping in. How fun.

Homework Time

OH the joy of having an older sister! Yay for me. Davis loves looking after
Isabelle and Isabelle loves being with Davis. Any time I need to do
something in the kitchen or just whatever, I can always count on Davis. She
is such a huge helper!

Sleeping Beauty

I just love this picture. I had just layed Isabelle down for bed and this is the typical look on her face everytime I put her down, even during the day for a nap. She might lay there like that with her eyes open for 5 minutes or so but every time, ends up falling asleep. I have to say, it is wonderful. On average she will be awake for an hour to an hour and a half between naps during the day and at night she will wake usually twice for a drink between 11a and 8a. Of course that can change from night to night. I have definitely realised that garlic needs to be avoided at all costs. Even the smallest amount tends to give her a very restless night. I have also been trying once again to swaddle her at night so she will sleep longer stretches. We managed a 6 hour and a 5 hour stretch this week but last night she was just the totally escape artist again! That girl can get out of anything. Definitely strong and determined sometimes. Oh well, we will carry on. Oh and just so you know, once she is asleep, I turn her onto her side or back. She is also never left alone while sleeping on her stomach. At night I will just sit in bed watching TV while she goes to sleep and during the day, she is in her bassinet by me.

2 months old

It is just so amazing to see how much more alert Isabelle has become in the
last week. She has been giving up the occasional smile since she was about 6
weeks old but this last week has been different. Almost every time you smile
at her, she will smile back or start talking to you. She loves to have
someone talk to her and smile at her and will even try to start up the conversation herself. It is just so cute.

I have started propping her up more in her bed so she can look around. She watches her mobile quite seriously now and will turn towards her little doll when she is playing her music. Gosh even to just look at her in these photos, she looks so much older
already. Wow!!! 2 months has gone by so fast. I look forward to every
milestone but really wish it would all slow down a bit.

Ok,one more smiling video. She seems to have gone up a knotch this week with her smiling. Just alot more really and she coos with her smiles aswell. Of course normally by the time I get the camera she is finished. But we managed to catch a little bit this time.

Isabelle has found her hands. In the past you could occasionally she her suck on her hand but I think it was my chance. Now she quite deliberately brings her hand to her mouth. And you tell it is a new discovery she is quite proud of as for the last 2 days she practices this new trick quite a lot while talking at the same time.

Sisterly Love

Davis and Isabelle have quite a little bond. Davis is totaly taken with
Isabelle and just loves her to peices and I know that Isabelle can sense
this. She will sit quite peacefully in Davis' arms in the chair or in the
bed. Davis can even manage to calm her in the car when Isabelle has had
enough. It is really quite neat to see an almost 11yr old handle the
situations of a newborn. Unlike most kids, she does not get flustered at all
when she is holding Isabelle and she starts getting fussy. She will just try
a differant position, talk to her or sing a song. The most common reason for
Davis to ask me to come and get Isabelle is that her arm is tired or she
just wants to go and do kid stuff.

Video Isabelle Smiles

Well this was the first attempt at uploading a video to this site, so I chose a short one. Seems to have worked however. yay! I was trying to catch a smile and only managed the tail end of one and the of course the phone rang. But now that I know I can upload straight from my picasa albums I will try to add more.
