Birthday!!

We went in for a schedualled C-section on Thursday 6 Sept. Everything went so smooth and easy and Miss Isabelle Rose was born at 756a. 8lbs and 20 inches. As it was a schedualled c-section there is not much to say. We had checked in at the hosptital on the night before but were then able to go home for the night. I was of course awake be 330a and could not go back to sleep after that as I was so anxious. We left for the hospital at 530a and once I was changed into a gown they monitored her for about 30 minutes as we got to watch the sun come up. The room was wonderful with sofa and table and huge windows looking out onto Lake Lucern and the mountains. It could not have been more perfect. At 7a, we were taken to the operating room. Worse part was the IV in the hand. Did not feel the local for the spinal almost at all however that was the part that had me more worked up. DH watched most of the op and took a few photos and Isabelle came crying into the world at 756a with apgar scores of 9 and 10 and these amazingly huge cheeks!! I could not believe it when I saw her. Following her birth I was able to hold her all wrapped up for about 10 minutes as the put me back together, after which she went back to the L&D room with DH while they finished up with me. Fortunately I was without her for only about 20 minutes. But she could spend could spend that time with daddy which was nice. We then spent about 4 hours in the L&D room before being moved to our room on the ward. The whole experience was just wonderful. The midwives and nurses were great!!To make a long story short, as I could go on forever, my recovery has been very easy. Sore of course the first day but was still up in the evening. By the next day I was in the shower on my own and walking around the ward. Really, I am so surprised at how easy it has been and how totally manageable the pain has been. Now 1 week later, basically nothing. Stayed the traditional Swiss 7 days in hospital which was nice but then also boring by the end. Just wanted to get home by day 5 but stuck it out as I knew once home, I would not just sit and relax anymore. Breastfeeding going great. She is a champion drinker that is for sure. She lost a bit the first couple of days in hospital and then started gaining. The day before we left hospital, she had already passed her birth weight by about 40grams. She cries very very little. Sleeps well. Her big sister just adores her! Just cant complain about anything. Ok, well one thing, .. somehow ended up with yucky cough/cold thing. Not terrible but not great and now of course I am worried about Isabelle getting it as well at such a young age.

Here are a few pictures from the first few days.
